Women make up nearly half of Sub-Saharan Africa’s agri-food workforce and account for 75% of working women, yet most remain in the lowest-paid, least secure roles—shut out of land ownership and leadership. Over 11 million more women than men are food insecure in the region.
Dr Forsythe calls for urgent action to address these gaps and recognise women as leaders, not just labourers.
