Research Fellow - Molecular Geneticist

the University of Greenwich at Medway

RESEARCH FELLOW – MOLECULAR GENETICIST (REF: 1098)

A postdoctoral position, jointly sponsored by Crown Bio Systems and BAE Systems, is available in the Natural Resources Institute of the University of Greenwich from 1 September 2004.

Our goal is to develop an inexpensive, simple and robust diagnostic tool that reduces the need for animal testing. Molecular genetics techniques will be used to engineer micro-organisms and provide them with the appropriate detection and response systems that meet the needs of a routine bioassay. The tool will provide a rapid method for the detection and evaluation of genotoxic and cytotoxic compounds.

Candidates should possess a doctorate in molecular genetics and have significant experience in yeast molecular biology. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and will join a small, dynamic multidisciplinary team working to demanding deadlines.

This post is fixed term for 1 year and the salary will be £18230 per annum.

Further particulars and an application form can be obtained from the Personnel Office, University of Greenwich, Avery Hill Road, London SE9 2UG, email Jobs@gre.ac.uk, quoting the job reference. Applications should be returned by 5:00 pm on 6 August 2004.
