Absence of capacity represents one of the major contraints to growth in African Agriculture and the natural resources sector. NRI and its partners are addressing capacity constraints in the sector through a range of interventions involving development and management of pan-Africa programmes (SCARDA) on the one hand and targeted technology transfer on the other.  

Key approaches include

• Develop training and systems and tools for educating trainers, extension staff, farmers in new agricultural innovations and better production systems. 
• Academic and professional training for agricultural research and teaching practitioners from DCs in Africa and Asia.
