Today’s world is one of unprecedented change and issues such as climate change, globalisation, conflict, rising food and fuel prices, emergent diseases and major migratory pests can all increase vulnerability and threaten the livelihood and health of poor people as well as having negative impacts on the environment.
NRI is working to understand these major challenges; assisting local organisations and communities to learn about an adapt to processes of change, assessing the impacts of research and development programmes on poverty and vulnerability and advising policy makers on the management and governance of natural resources, so as to help the world’s poorest withstand these potentially disastrous multiple threats.
