NRI engages with private sector organisations in a wide range of different activities. These include:
- Research activities addressing improvements in commodity production, quality and reliability; development of new products; and evaluation and promotion of products (See case studies). [pdf 236Kb]
- Research to identify opportunities for enhancing the role of the private sector in agricultural research for development [pdf 981Kb]
- Work on improving food safety of informally vended foods in Ghana, India, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
- Work to establish a Commodity Trade Finance System which is based on Inventory Collateralisation and Warehouse Receipts.
- Research to promote policies that support non-farm rural livelihoods across a range of less developed countries and transition economies.
- Work on ethical trade through the NRI-led Natural Resources and Ethical Trade programme (http://www.nri.org/NRET/).
