THE PREVENTION OF SANITARY
RISKS LINKED TO RODENTS AT THE RURAL/PERI-URBAN INTERFACE
RatZooMan
- short for Rodent Zoonosis Management
This research project completed its research
activities in June 2006. The project used a multidisciplinary
approach to further our understanding
about emerging infectious diseases affecting people and their
livelihoods. The project involved scientists from different countries
in Europe and Africa with expertise in the biological, environmental
and social sciences with a particular focus on rodents as disease
vectors and the role they play in the spread and transmission
of many diseases. Funding for this project was obtained by the
European Commission
Framework Five Programme for International Cooperation.
This website will tell you more about the project,
its activities and progress as well as provide links to relevant
documents, websites and research groups from around the world
focussing on rodents and zoonosis.

to The RatZooMan Network This is an email and website forum
to post announcements and queries related to rodent-vectored
diseases. Discussion is open to any zoonosis where rodents
play a role in transmission as well as general pathogens
and parasites where rodents are implicated in contaminating
the environment. Membership is open to people working on
Communicable diseases, Rodent ecology and management, Human
and livestock health, Eco-epidemiology of zoonosis, etc.
