Institutionalizing Impact Orientation: Building a Performance Management Approach that Enhances the Impact Orientation of Research Organisations
D R SMITH with A SUTHERLAND
This
book documents the process, results and lessons from
a project that introduced performance management concepts,
and built performance management capacity, in a pilot
group of agricultural research organisations. 'Institutionalizing
Impact Orientation' responds to concerns within public-sector
agencies about how to demonstrate their achievements
against a background of broad-based public policy reforms.
The project on which the book is based was the first
phase of a larger initiative to develop and implement
effective performance management systems in public research
institutions. Two organisations in Ghana, the Crops
Research Institute and the Food Research Institute,
and the National Banana Research Programme in Uganda,
participated with NRI in the project.
