Crop Post-Harvest: Science and Technology, Volume 2, Durables
Peter Golob, Graham Farrell and John E Orchard (eds)

Crop Post-Harvest: Science and Technology, Volume 2, DurablesThis important handbook is the second volume of a major three-part reference work edited by NRI’s post-harvest specialists. It focuses on durable commodities, i.e. the dried products – mainly plant seeds – that constitute the staples from which much of our food is made. The three volumes are intended as a standard reference for all professionals involved in the harvesting, shipping, storage and processing of crops, including agricultural and plant scientists, food scientists and technologists, microbiologists, plant pathologists, entomologists, and all post-harvest, shipping and storage consultants.

The editors of this second volume – themselves well-known for their international research and development work on post-harvest grain management – have drawn together 36 expert contributors from Europe, North America, Asia, Australasia, South America and Africa to provide a wealth of practical information on post-harvest management of the world’s major food crops, including rice, maize, wheat, sorghum, barley, beans, cowpea, groundnuts, other oilseeds, copra, coffee, cocoa, dried fish, and dried fruit and nuts. The chapters on these commodities are presented as structured sets of illustrative case studies on how the crops are stored and marketed in different countries and regions.
