Video film - Understanding linkages: water and livelihoods in Andhra Pradesh, India.

This 30 minute film from the Community Media Trust was made by rural women from Andhra Pradesh, India. It tells a story of huge change in water supply and use over recent decades, and how this has affected different people in different ways. The film in particular considers whether watershed development offers a solution to address the problems of groundwater overexploitation and failing drinking water sources. It includes interviews with many poor women, and other water users and stakeholders, on how their lives have been affected what could be done to address these problems. Above all, it tells us about the complexity of managing water in India.

To order copies of the film (on CD), please write to John Butterworth at the Natural Resources Institute, Chatham Maritime, Kent, ME1 1SB, UK (Tel: +44 1634 883615 E-mail: j.a.butterworth@gre.ac.uk)
