Awards Ceremony 2011

On 26^th July 2011, the annual awards ceremony was held at Rochester Cathedral. Although not all graduates were able to attend the ceremony it was a pleasure to welcome more than 25 higher degree, Masters degree and post-graduate award holders. Four PhD students received their awards.

• Niamh Marie Murphy whose thesis was “The Application of Molecular Techniques for the Rapid and Sensitive Detection of Gastrointestinal Pathogens Directly in Food”
• Aurélie Bechoff whose thesis was “Investigating Carotenoid Loss after Drying and Storage of Orange-Fleshed Sweet Potato”
• Muhammad Usman Ahmad Cheema whose thesis was “Dormancy and Sprout Control in Root and Tuber Crops”
• Virginia Nicolás-Perea whose thesis was “The Role of Weather and Topography in the Airborne Dispersal of Particulate Matter in Kent”

Masters of Science degrees were awarded to students from the 2009–10 academic cohort studying Food Safety and Quality Management and Natural Resources — Sustainable Environmental Management. Post-graduate Diplomas in Food Safety and Quality Management were also awarded.
